Ductless Guide

Daikin Ductless — For The Spaces Your System Doesn't Reach

The garage. The shop. The addition. The sunroom that's an oven in July. The ADU. These are ductless jobs — and there are two very different tiers of equipment competing for them.

The Two Tiers, Honestly

The DIY tier — pre-charged kits sold on price, built so anyone can hook them up. They work. For a while. They're also why "mini splits are junk" is a sentence you'll hear from people who bought one.

The professional tier — Daikin, the equipment contractors actually quote. Inverter compressors that modulate instead of slamming on and off. R-32 refrigerant. Whisper-quiet indoor heads. Real manufacturer warranties. Systems engineered to be commissioned by a licensed tech — properly evacuated, properly charged, properly done — and to run for 15+ years afterward.

We sell the second tier only. Here's the honest math on why: a pro-grade Daikin bought at distributor pricing, plus a day of licensed install labor, typically lands within a-few-hundred-dollars of a "premium" DIY kit — and thousands under a dealer-quoted system. You skip the dealer markup, not the professional standard.

Where Ductless Wins

The Garage & Shop

Working in a 105° garage in August or a 35° shop in January isn't grit, it's lost weekends. A single-zone Daikin conditions a 2-car garage or workshop year-round — heating and cooling in one unit — for pennies an hour of runtime. The most popular application we sell, and the one people say they should have done years earlier.

The Addition & Bonus Room

Extending ductwork into an addition is expensive and often makes the rest of the house worse. A dedicated ductless zone conditions the new space with its own thermostat and zero impact on the existing system.

The Sunroom

Beautiful in April, uninhabitable in July. A wall-mounted head reclaims the room for all twelve months.

The ADU & Guest Suite

A separate dwelling needs separate control. Ductless gives a casita or garage apartment its own efficient system without touching the main house — and tenants control their own comfort.

The Problem Room

Every house has one — the bedroom over the garage, the office at the end of the run. A single zone fixes the room the ductwork never could.

Sizing: The Five-Minute Call That Prevents The Expensive Mistake

Rules of thumb for orientation — not a substitute for doing it right:

Space Typical size
Small room / office (up to ~350 sq ft) 9,000 BTU
Bedroom / large office (~350–500 sq ft) 12,000 BTU
2-car garage / large room (~500–700 sq ft) 15,000–18,000 BTU
Shop / great room (~700–1,000 sq ft) 24,000 BTU

Insulation, ceiling height, sun exposure, and climate move these numbers meaningfully — a poorly insulated Texas garage is not a finished Michigan bonus room. Call (254) 964-0232 and we'll size your space free before you buy. Oversized short-cycles and undersized never catches up; both waste the money you were trying to save.

On Installation

Daikin systems are installed by licensed professionals — flare connections, evacuation to vacuum, refrigerant handling, commissioning. It's typically a one-day job for a single zone. That's not a hurdle, it's the reason the warranty is real and the reason the system will still be quiet and efficient in year twelve.

Buy the equipment direct at distributor pricing. Hire a licensed installer for the day. Keep the difference.
